Abstract:
Sri Lankan apparel manufacturers are reputed worldwide for manufacturing quality garments.
Apparel industry has been contributed more than fifty percent of export to the Sri Lankan
economy. Therefore it is necessary to have efficient warehouses in those firms to reduce
unnecessary costs. Determination of factors that affect the efficiency in warehouse is significant in
any production industry. Warehouse activities are now becoming the midpoint of apparel
manufacturing and it is important to ensure the effective storing, handling, receiving the goods
efficiently in the manufacturing firms. Main objective of this research is to identify the factors for
warehouse efficiency in apparel industry. Both primary and secondary data were used for this
research. The selected factors for this study are on time delivery, employee attendance, number of
transactions and write off quantity. Further, to verify the results which are obtained from multiple
regression analysis using secondary data, a Likert scale type questionnaire was distributed to
managerial level employees who has a good knowledge in warehouse processes. According to the
findings of this research, on time delivery, employee attendance and of transaction have an impact
on warehouse efficiency and write off quantity has no impact on warehouse efficiency.
