Abstract:
Employees in the apparel industry are exposed to many hazards at their workplace. Availability
of corrective measures may influence their levels of job satisfaction. This study attempts to assess
employees’ perception on health and safety practices and their effect on the job satisfaction among
employees of Garments factory at Koggala. Five health and safety practices namely, working
conditions, handling materials, personal protective equipment, health and safety training
programmes and procedures are selected. The data were collected from 125 production level
employees and cross-sectional survey design was adopted. The data were collected through a
structured questionnaire. The analysis conducted using descriptive statistics indicates that there is a
significance association between occupational health and safety practices and employee job
satisfaction.
