Abstract:
Apparel industry is one of the largest industries in Sri Lanka which employ a large number of
employees and offer a high contribution to the Sri Lankan economy to solve the unemployment
problem by providing a higher number of career opportunities. One of the major goals of apparel
industry is improving job satisfaction of employees. Organizations always expect the maximum
contribution from their employees and to become successful it requires employees who perform
more than their usual duties and responsibilities. The purpose of this research paper is to study the
employee satisfaction and organizational commitment in HE (Pvt) Ltd, which provide all apparel
embellishment requirements world-wide. Following variables were identified as the root causes of
labour dissatisfaction of workers in the organization. Experience, salary, allowances, working
conditions, training and developments, job security, team member’s supports and managerial
support mainly focused in this study. This research is quantitative in nature. The study is based on
primary data, which has been collected through a questionnaire. Hundred and thirty-two
respondents of embroidery machine operators in embroidery section of HE (Pvt) Ltd has been
selected on random sampling basis. Descriptive statistical tools SPSS were applied on the
questionnaire to see the reliability and consistency. Logistic ordinary regression method was used
for data analysis. There are 7 factors as salary, allowances, working conditions, training and
developments, job security, team member’s supports and managerial support (Independent) and
employees’ job satisfaction. (Dependent). This research developed a logistic ordinary regression
model to find the relationship between independent variables and dependent variables. The result
shows that the salary, allowances, working conditions, management support and team member’s
support are the most important factors contributing job satisfaction.
